A mystery-drama by Gardner McKay, "Toyer," opens Friday at 8 p.m. in a production by the Actors Workshop of Western New York. Fred Keller directs Christina Rausa and Roger Keicher in performances in the Cafe in the Square Theatre, Snyder Square, Main Street and Harlem Road, Amherst, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., through April 28.

"The Belle of Amherst," a one-woman play by William Luce based on the life of poet Emily Dickinson, will be performed by Mary Charbonnet starting today at 2 p.m. Additional performances in the Fredonia Opera House, 9-11 Church St., Fredonia, are at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Irish writer Geraldine Aron's new comedy-drama, "Same Old Moon," opens Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the Irish Classical Theatre Company, 48 W. Chippewa St., under the direction of Vincent O'Neill. Among the cast are Josephine Hogan, Richard Wesp, Arlene Clement, Darleen Pickering Hummert and Paul O'Hern. Performances continue Thursdays and Fridays at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m., through May 7.

Summerfare Theatre stages the cult classic "The Rocky Horror Show" starting Thursday at 8 p.m. in the Pfeifer Theatre, 681 Main St. Randall Kramer directs, Lynne Kurdziel-Formato is the choreographer, and Michael Hake is the musical director. Featured are John Masse, Janien Nola, Brian Harkins, Lisa Ludwig, Loraine O'Donnell and others. Performances continue Thursdays and Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 7 and 10 p.m.

A new comedy-drama by Karen White, "Blue Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, etc.," opens Friday at 8 p.m. in Lockport's Kenan Center Taylor Theater, 433 Locust St. Performances continue Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., and Sundays at 3 p.m. (except no show April 16), through April 23.

The Brown Bag play reading series continues Tuesday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. with "An Evening Walk" by Teresa Marichal, in Rehearsal Workshop B-83, Center for the Arts, UB North Campus. The reading is free.

Ken Ludwig's popular comedy "Lend Me a Tenor" will be performed by the Wyoming County Bicentennial Singers, director Tim Kehl, in a dinner-theater show starting Friday in the Hillside Inn, 890 E. Bethany Road, Wyoming. Dinner is at 6 p.m., performances at 8 Fridays and Saturdays, with a Sunday brunch performance at noon, through April 9.

COLLEGE: "Godspell," pop-rock musical, featuring Zodiaque Dance and Gemms Musical Theatre companies, opens tonight at 8 in the Center for the Arts Drama Theatre, UB North Campus. Performances through April 9.

"Little Shop of Horrors" opens tonight at 8 in Niagara County Community College's Fine Arts Theatre, 3111 Saunders Settlement Road, Sanborn. Performances through April 7.

"Twelfth Night," Shakespearean comedy, opens tonight at 8 in Canisius College's 1908 Building, Main Street across from the main campus. Performances through April 8.

"Blithe Spirit," the Noel Coward comedy, opens Friday at 8 p.m. in Buffalo State College's Upton Hall Auditorium, 1300 Elmwood Ave. Performances through April 9.

Emanuel Fried's drama "The Dodo Bird" opens tonight at 7 in a combined professional/student production in Daemen College's Little Theater, 4380 Main St., Snyder. Performances through Saturday.
