NUISANCE MUSIC RUINS ATMOSPHERE, CIVILITY

Congratulations on The News' courageous stand against nuisance music in Hamburg. In addition to issues of unwanted auditory intrusiveness into homes and of freedom from noxious auditory stimuli (NAS) is the basic issue of providing an example of consideration for others.

Civility begins in childhood, and children, ever the astute observers of adult behavior, would not miss the loud and clear message of town fathers and mothers should they "temporarily" permit uncivil behavior.

Quality of life is important and fragile. Choose carefully which bells should or should not be rung. Ask the residents near Darien Lake.
