An Olean man was charged with driving while intoxicated after his car struck a flagman working along Route 417 shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday.
Gerald M. Rounds Jr., 60, of North Union Street also was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, speeding and driving without a license. He is in Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $1,500 bail.
State Police at Olean identified the flagman as Frank A. Vizza, 51, of Allegany, who was part of a state Department of Transportation crew working west of the Village of Allegany. He was taken to Olean General Hospital, where he was treated for contusions and a concussion, then released.
