30 STUDENTS IN SUDAN KILLED WHEN FIRE RIPS THROUGH DORM

Thirty students at an Islamic school in central Sudan were killed when fire swept through their dormitory as they slept, the official SUNA news agency reported today.

The cause of the Tuesday night fire was not known.

The students were learning the Koran at Sheik Omar Ali Betai Khalwa Islamic School for Beginners in Butana province.

SUNA did not give their ages but Khalwa students are often less than 10 years old.
