Quaker Oats Co., slimming down after its purchase of Snapple beverages and the sale of its pet food businesses, said Tuesday it will cut about 600 jobs.
The maker of breakfast and convenience foods and Snapple and Gatorade beverages said all the cuts will be in the United States and Canada, where it employs 10,000 people. Quaker's worldwide work force numbers 19,000.
The job losses will affect various middle management and other functions. Some senior-level positions also will be eliminated.
