A NEW NOVEL by Howard Wolf, professor of English at the University at Buffalo, will be published by the Academic Foundation of Delhi, India. It's called "Broadway Serenade" and the sixth of Wolf's 10 books to be published by the Academic Foundation.

Traditional in form, the pun-filled narrative describes the conflicts and erotic adventures of a Jewish-American in a New York City setting that is no more. Wolf has other books in progress, including one of travel essays and letters from Hong Kong. He has published more than 175 literary and cultural essays, short stories, poems and commentaries. . . . BRIGHTON IDEA -- The Brighton Branch Library at 999 Brighton Road in the Town of Tonawanda will hold a "Springtime Plant Exchange" from 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 13. The event is free and involves taking a rooted cutting in soil from a favorite houseplant to trade for someone else's favorite, according to librarian Mike Walter.

Walter said the last time a plant exchange was held in the branch library was in 1978. He said there was a big turnout. For more information, call 832-7931. . . .

VOICE-OVERS -- Buffalo State College's Lifelong Learning Center is offering "How to Make Money at Commercial Announcing" from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 13. Participants will learn how to market and package themselves. Demo tapes and the skills needed to become a success at voice-overs will be discussed.

Students will get to hear their recorded simulated commercials at the end of the class. The fee for the class is $16. Registration deadline is three days prior to the start of the class. For more information, call the Center at 878-5906. . . .

DEADLINE to make a reservation for a retirement party for Jeanette DiPiano-Stanley is April 13. She's retiring from the City of Buffalo Department of Public Works after 22 years of working for the city and the State of New York. The party will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 20, in the upstairs banquet room of Casa Di Pizza, 477 Elmwood Ave. Tickets cost $20 and include a full buffet and open bar.
