JAMESTOWN MAN HELD IN KNIFE CASE

A Jamestown man was arrested after Town of Ellicott police said he forced a former girlfriend out of her home at knifepoint.

Manuel Hines, 40, of East Second Street, went to the home of a former girlfriend on East Main Street about 10 p.m. Sunday, police said.

Hines allegedly held a knife to her throat and tried to force her into a cab, according to police, who said officers arrived just in time to intervene.

Hines was charged with first-degree unlawful imprisonment, fourth-degree criminal possession of weapon, second-degree menacing and third-degree criminal mischief. He was sent to Chautauqua County Jail, with no bail set.
