A Mass of Christian Burial for Charles S. Messina Sr., 84, an executive chef for more than 50 years, will be offered at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mary's Catholic Church, 18 Ellicott St. Entombment will be in St. Joseph's Mausoleum.
He died Sunday (March 26, 1995) in St. Jerome Hospital.
A native of Batavia, he was a chef at many local restaurants, including Batavia SportsService, Mancuso's, the Steak House, and the Buccaneer of Batavia and Rochester.
He was a member of St. Mary's Church and a former usher, a member of the Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree and an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus of Niagara Falls.
Surviving are his wife, the former Beatrice M. Martino; three sons, Vincent of Pavilion, Charles Jr. and Paul; three brothers, Harry of Medina, Thomas of California and John; two sisters, Laura Baglio of Maryland and Rose Panepento; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.[brwn]
