An Orleans County grand jury has formally charged Tammie Crane with second-degree murder.
An eight-count indictment was handed up Monday afternoon in County Court against Ms. Crane, of Albion, who is accused of shooting Christopher Dritschel, also of Albion, Feb. 19.
Ms. Crane, 31, admitted shooting Dritschel, 33, during a confrontation at a party in the Town of Barre, police said. She is also accused of threatening numerous people with a registered .38-caliber handgun at other times that evening. She also reportedly discharged the weapon on two other occasions that night.
Ms. Crane and Dritschel had met for the first time that evening at an Albion bar and ridden to the party with a group of friends.
Dritschel died in Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, about 12 hours after the shooting. Ms. Crane was arraigned on the murder charge the next day.
Besides facing the murder charge, Ms. Crane was also indicted on four counts of first-degree reckless endangerment and one count each of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and criminal use of a firearm.
Ms. Crane is currently in the Orleans County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail. No trial date has been set.
