MAN ACCUSED OF ASSAULTING OFFICER

Jamestown Police Officer Christopher Felt was assaulted Saturday night outside of a West Eighth Street bar as he tried to break up a fight, police said Sunday.

William F. Harrison, 34, of Fairmount Avenue, arraigned Sunday in Jamestown City Court, is charged with felony assault, resisting arrest and criminal mischief. He is in Chautauqua County Jail without bail.

Felt, who suffered a laceration, contusions and abrasions to his mouth and face, was on patrol about 9:40 p.m. when he spotted a disturbance at the Outlet Inn, 635 W. Eighth. He did not require hospitalization.

Police said Harrison tried to leave the scene and when Felt tried to stop him, Harrison punched the officer twice in the face, then tackled him. Felt, with the help of bystanders, subdued Harrison and placed him under arrest.
