INDIAN CONSUL GENERAL TO SPEAK AT CANISIUS

Gajanan Wakankar, consul general of India in New York, will discuss "World Peace: A Perspective from India" at 8 p.m. today in Grupp Fireside Lounge at Canisius College.

His lecture, free and open to the public, will kick off a week-long International Fest at the college.

Wakankar, joint secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs for the government of India before becoming consul general in New York, was commercial counselor and deputy chief of mission in the Indian Embassy in Libya from 1977 to 1980.

He has also served as India's high commissioner to Guyana and India's ambassador to Oman.
