The first weekend in April is show-off time for Alfred State College students.
A culinary arts exposition will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday on the Wellsville vocational campus.
Meanwhile, on the Alfred campus, the annual flower and garden show will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Tickets for the cooking show, including a buffet dinner created by student chefs, are $7.
The flower show in the Anderson Horticultural Center and adjacent greenhouses off Route 244 is free.
Entries in the cooking show include three- and seven-course meals, desserts, pastries and sculptures in margarine, tallow and ice.
The theme of the flower show is "a walk in the park." Students in Alfred's three horticulture curricula -- floriculture production, floriculture merchandising and landscaping -- have been at work planning the show since last fall.
One of the park settings is a wedding scene, featuring a cake prepared by culinary arts students.
Tickets for the cooking show are available at the door and at Elliott's Bakery and Texas Hot restaurant in Wellsville.
