TALKIN MAN WINS GOTHAM STAKES

Talkin Man drew off to an authoritative seven-length victory over previously unbeaten Da Hoss in the $250,000 Gotham Stakes at Aqueduct on Saturday.

Ridden by Mike Smith, Talkin Man stalked Da Hoss, who had never gone a mile previously, for 6 furlongs before launching his bid in mid stretch. He drew away in the final 1-16 to cover the mile in 1:36.4 over the fast track.

Devious Course was another two lengths back in third in the field of 11 3-year-olds.

Unraced since finishing 10th behind Timber Country in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile at Churchill Downs last November, Talkin Man was named champion 2-year-old in Canada last year after three stakes-winning performances at Woodbine.

The Roger Attfield-trained colt, son of With Approval, earned $150,000 for owners Kinghaven Farms and Helen G. Stollery.
