How many calories do you get from licking a postage stamp?

Believe it or not, that question was asked of the dietitians staffing the nutrition hotline of the National Center for Nutrition Education at the American Dietetic Association in Chicago.

And here's the answer: 2 to 10 calories, depending on the size of the stamp, the type of gum and, well, your "licking technique," says Lorri Fishman, a dietitian who manages the hotline.

Better stay away, though, from those extra large commemoratives!
