It's no secret Evans police are cracking down on underage drinking -- they ran a newspaper ad last week warning tavern operators not to serve minors.

But that didn't stop one bartender from selling drinks Friday night to two underage police decoys. Police charged Alfred Carstens, an employee of Schuylers Corner Tavern, 6807 Erie Road, Derby, with serving minors.

Police said the female decoy told Carstens she had no identification, and he replied, "You know there's a sting going on."

Despite that, Carstens served her and her male companion, police said. Officers then moved in for the arrest, the fifth in the sting, which police have been conducting for several weeks under a state grant.
