A Welch Avenue man, wanted for allegedly assaulting an Elmwood Avenue man with a metal baseball bat Tuesday night, was arrested Friday when he showed up in City Court to face unrelated charges, Detective John Olander said.
Jermainel Harris, 20, of 1791 Welch Ave., who appeared in court on reckless driving and resisting arrest charges, was arrested on a second-degree assault charge in Tuesday's incident, Olander said.
Harris is accused attacking Anthony Pascuzzi, 36, of Elmwood Avenue at 7:45 p.m. while Pascuzzi was walking on the 800 block of 15th Street to a Pine Avenue store, Olander said. Harris and another man allegedly got out of a car, claimed he was responsible for their arrests at some earlier date and struck him numerous times in the body and knees with metal baseball bats, he said.
Pascuzzi was treated at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center for his injuries, Officer Robert DeMarco said.
Harris pleaded innocent to the charges and was given an adjournment until a Wednesday court appearance.
