A FAREWELL PARTY for members and former members of the Coast Guard's Reserve Unit Buffalo (which absorbed Reserve Unit Niagara two years ago) will be held Saturday nightat the New Bison City Rod & Gun Club, 511 Ohio St. The festivities will begin at 5 p.m. and the $10 per person tab will pay for pizza, wings, beer, wine and pop.
Lt. Cmdr. J.D. Potter (674-7822) and Lt. Bruce Bruni (689-1160) have been handling reservations. All active reserve and auxiliary personnel (and guests) were invited along with former members.
Buffalo's Coast Guard Reserve unit will be disbanded April 1. Local reservists will be blended into full-time units under the reorganization. . . .
A SPAGHETTI DINNER will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturdayat Martin Luther Christian School, 1085 Eggert Road, Amherst, in behalf of Michael Murphy, 35, father of two, who is awaiting a bone marrow transplant to stop the spread of the disease known as myelogenous (acute) leukemia. A donation of $15 for adults and $6 for children will be accepted at the door. Children under 5 will be admitted free. For those unable to attend the benefit, donations can be made in any amount to "Friends of Michael Murphy," 135 Heim Road, Buffalo 14221. The Aid Association for Lutherans will match the first $5,000 raised by the benefit. . . .
