Carl R. Bianchi Sr., 77, of Eden, who worked at Bethlehem Steel Corp. in Lackawanna for 44 years, died Wednesday (March 22, 1995) in Our Lady of Victory Hospital, Lackawanna.
Born in Buffalo, he was a graduate of Burgard High School and a veteran of World War II.
He worked at the Bethlehem plant from 1936 to 1980, retiring as an inspector in the billets yard.
He was a member of Locals 2603 and 2604, United Steelworkers of America.
He also was a member of Newell-Faulkner Post 880, American Legion, and a former member of Council 184, Knights of Columbus.
He and Jean Glavy were married in 1939.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three sons, Carl R. Jr. of Eden, John of Montana and Wayne of West Seneca; three daughters, Nina Wilson of Clearwater, Fla., Peggy Wierzba of Boston and Maria of Eden; two brothers, Joseph of Hamburg and Robert of Simi Valley, Calif.; a sister, Adele Steinman of Alden; 22 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 1 p.m. Saturday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 8791 S. Main St., Eden.
