Qualifiers for the second Nothing But Net basketball shooting contest, sponsored by the City of Buffalo Parks and Recreation Department and the Police Athletic League, will be held Monday.

There will be competition in five age groups for boys and girls: 10-under, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16 and 17-18. There will also be an over-50 division, to which some of the area's top senior players have been invited.

Participants will have 90 seconds to shoot from designated locations on the floor, which are assigned point totals. The highest score wins.

Winners compete in finals April 13 at the Hennepin Center. Call 851-5809 (days) or 873-1634 (evenings) for times and locations.
The 24th Biennial Niagara Invitational Figure Skating Competition runs today through Sunday at the Buffalo State College Ice Arena.

More than 350 skaters from more than 40 clubs will compete. Hosted by the Buffalo Skating Club, the event runs today and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Bishop Timon-St. Jude High School will hold its annual Sports Nite program on April 1 at 7 p.m.

WGR Newsradio 55 personality Chuck "The Coach" Dickerson will be the featured speaker. Ch. 4 sportscaster Chuck Howard will be master of ceremonies.

Inductees into the Timon Sports Hall of Fame are: Roger Kremblas, Class of 1967; Michael Leary, '68; James Barnes, '79; Michael Robertson, '86; and Michael Doctor, '87.

Ed Rider, '70, will receive the Tom Sands Service Award.

A Chinese auction will feature a hockey stick autographed by the Buffalo Sabres; a stick signed by Detroit Red Wings defenseman Mike Ramsey; a baseball bat signed by Boston Red Sox star Jose Canseco, and other memorabilia.
