The official results of two close trustee races in Celoron will not be known until Tuesday when the Chautauqua County Board of Elections opens absentee ballots.
The board decided to wait a week because three absentee ballots had not been returned, Village Clerk Vicki Lindstrom said Wednesday. The Board of Elections handles the absentee ballots for Celoron.
In results listed Tuesday night, incumbent Trustee Susan K. Schrecengost, Democrat, had 182 votes and challenger David R. Lewis, Republican, had 181 votes for a two-year term. Pamela D. Piazza, Republican, had 177 votes and Clifton Darling, Republican, had 173 votes to fill a one-year vacancy.
