The Evans Planning Board Wednesday voted to rezone a 127,000-square-foot area of land at 8091 and 8111 Erie Road.
The rezoning petition was presented by New Era Cap Co. Inc.
The rezoning is contingent upon approval of the proposed site plan for the property, which will come before the Planning Board April 26.
According to New Era representative Peter Krog, the site would be used for an expansion of the manufacturing plant and a general "cleanup" of the truck docking area, making it possible for trucks to enter the factory without backing across Erie Road and blocking traffic.
The Planning Board had recommended the rezoning at its February meeting, and had referred the matter to the Town Board for final approval.
A complaint from a neighbor at last week's Town Board meeting sent the petition back to the Planning Board for further inspection.
Robert Corsi, the town fire marshal, said Wednesday that he has received numerous complaints about fire code violations at the plant. Corsi said that a fire inspection will be made of the building before the Planning Board's April meeting and the results will be presented for review when the board considers the site plan.
In other action, The Planning Board approved a site plan for property owned by Evans National Bank at the corner of Erie and Beach roads.
The site plan was approved pending a favorable response on the project from the county Department of Public Works and the Erie County Sewer District. The board also ordered the site plan to be altered to allow for a larger area to detain drainage water on the site.

Approved a site plan for the conversion of a medical office building in the Village of Angola into a combination medical building and apartment building. The plan, presented by the group of Mecca, Michalek and Mecca, will add two apartments to the first floor of the building at 8724 North Main St. in the village. The site plan was approved pending a favorable response from the Erie County Sewer Authority, a positive environmental impact report, and some minor changes to the site plan to provide access to the handicapped.
Tabled a site plan for a 16,200-square-foot gymnastics and fitness center and retail plaza at 8259 Erie Road.
Tabled a proposal by Anthony J. Anderson for a marina at the Point Breeze Camp Inc. The board decided to hold the matter until responses are given from the Army Corps of Engineers and the state Department of Environmental Conservation on reissuing necessary licenses.
