BUFFALO WOMAN SENTENCED FOR SHOPLIFTING ATTEMPT

A Buffalo woman was sentenced to 90 days in jail Wednesday by Cheektowaga Justice Ronald Kmiotek after pleading guilty to attempted petit larceny.

Mercedes M. Vance, 29, of 292 Moselle St. was arrested on Jan. 29, 1994, in Kaufmann's department store in the Walden Galleria after trying to shoplift five coats worth $649.

Kmiotek also sentenced Carolyn Mann, 29, of 334 Warwick Ave., Buffalo, to 90 days in the Erie County Correctional Facility for violating her
probation.

Ms. Mann was arrested in June 1993 on a shoplifting charge and given probation. She pleaded guilty to violating her probation after she was arrested in a separate incident.
