Amherst police Saturday were investigating a school bus-car collision that killed a North Tonawanda woman.

Bethany Dietrich, 23, of Ruie Road was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred at about 2:20 p.m. Friday on Sweet Home Road just north of North French Road, according to Lt. Donald Wright.

A Laidlaw Transit bus driven by Maureen A. Eckle, 53, was northbound in a construction area when it apparently swerved, hitting the oncoming Dietrich car on the driver's side door, Wright said.

Two passengers on the bus -- aide Maurice Roberts, 40, and a 4-year-old child -- were slightly injured, Wright said.
