Services for George N. Pierce III, a grandson of the founder of the Pierce Arrow Automobile Co., will be private.
Pierce, 57, died April 19, 1994, in his Angola home after a brief illness. His grandfather was the late Percy Pierce.
He retired in 1990 from the Eden Central School system, where he taught seventh-grade social studies.
After serving in the Army, Pierce was a civilian worker for the U.S. government in Vietnam during the Vietnam War and in Washington, until 1987. He traveled extensively in the Middle East and Europe.
Pierce studied at Stanford University and received a bachelor's degree in political science from the American University of Beirut in Lebanon. He also earned a master's degree in education from Canisius College.
Survivors include a sister, Caroline Dickens of Tehachapi, Calif., and a brother, Eugene S. of Sells, Ariz.
