$24 MILLION DONATED TO FRISCO CAMPUS

A co-founder of the biotechnology company Genentech donated $24 million to the University of California, San Francisco, the university said Wednesday.

The gift from Herber Boyer, an emeritus professor of biochemistry at the college, is the largest personal donation ever made to the University of California or any of its nine campuses. His gift consists of his patent rights to the process for splicing genes.
