PET CEMETERY TO REOPEN AFTER SALE, RENOVATIONS

The Long Island Pet Cemetery, shut down two years ago after its owners were found to have dumped thousands of carcasses in mass pits, has been sold to a group of businessmen who will reopen it next month.

The sale was announced on Friday by Mayor Jo White, U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of New York.

The site will be renamed The Regency Forest Pet Memorial Cemetery, which the group plans to reopen next month after extensive renovations, said Leonard Tarzia of Brookhaven, one of the owners.
