WILLIAMS OPENS CAMPAIGN FOR DELAWARE COUNCIL SEAT

Jim Williams, a Democratic committeeman, has announced he will seek to run as an unendorsed candidate in the Democratic primary Sept. 14 for the Delaware Common Council seat.

He has opened a campaign office at 1279 Hertel Ave. and will begin circulating nominating petitions.

Williams, 53, of 95 Wingate Ave., is a block club leader for the Wingate-Starin Avenue Association. He has been a director of the Police Athletic League Delaware Park Baseball Program and was co-chairman of the Buffalo Noise Task Force. He has been in retailing for 30 years, currently with Harry Rosen Gentlemen's Apparel in Walden Galleria.

Williams, son of former major league baseball scout Edwin "Cy" Williams, graduated from Bishop Timon High School, attended Indiana State College in Pennsylvania and served six years in the New York National Guard. He and his wife, Ginny, have three children.
