INFORMATION SOUGHT ON DOG THAT BIT AKRON WOMAN

Akron police are urging anyone with information on a large black dog that attacked a 43-year-old woman in front of Akron Central School Tuesday to call the department immediately.

The woman was treated for injuries at Genesee Memorial Hospital and later released.

Police Officer Gerald Bielicki said it is important to locate the owner of the dog that was wearing a red or orange collar and dragging a leash. "We need to know if the dog had its rabies shots," he added, noting that the dog looked similar in appearance to a Simoyah.

The incident occurred at about 5 p.m. and several people were in the area at that time voting on the school budget, police said.
