A downtown branch of Marine Midland Bank was robbed Monday morning by a man who claimed he had a gun and would use it if necessary, Theater District Station officers said.
The man walked up to a teller's window in the branch at 135 Delaware Ave. shortly after 9:30 a.m. and handed her a note demanding money, police said. The note also indicated that he had a weapon and would use it if he had to, officers said.
After he was given an unspecified amount of cash, the man fled, leaving the note behind.
He was described as a black man in his 30s, between 5 feet 5 inches and 6 feet tall. He had a medium complexion and a small mustache, and wore dark pants, a yellow rain jacket and a blue baseball cap.
