A memorial service for Frances M. Gillies of Kenmore will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Church of the Nativity, United Church of Christ, 1530 Colvin Blvd., Town of Tonawanda.
Mrs. Gillies died Saturday (May 22, 1993) in Kenmore Mercy Hospital after a brief illness. She was 86.
She was raised and educated in the Westfield and Fredonia area, where her father owned a vineyard. In 1924, her family move to Kenmore.
Mrs. Gillies worked for 25 years as the medical secretary to the late Dr. Warren S. Smith of Kenmore and was a charter member and past president of the Medical Secretaries Association. She also worked for several years as the executive secretary to the president of Aluminum Co. of America, Buffalo.
She was the widow of William Gillies, who died in 1983. They were married for 53 years.
Survivors include a son, the Rev. Bruce N. of Kenmore; a daughter, Marjorie of Niagara Falls; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. [gthns]
