12-YEAR-OLD BRONX BOY IMPALES ARM ON FENCE

A 12-year-old Bronx boy partially impaled his right arm on a wrought-iron fence Sunday, and firefighters used a welder's torch to cut the fence.

Surgeons at Lincoln Hospital, assisted by firefighters from a rescue company, removed the spike in a brief operation, and the boy was in stable condition, said a spokesman for the Fire Department.

The child's name was not released.

The spokesman said the boy apparently was trying to climb the iron fence at Marcy Place and the Grand Concourse in the Morrisania section when he slipped and was impaled.
