Services for Joe Costo, 89, formerly of Pine Avenue, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the Otto Redanz Funeral Home, Michigan Avenue at 10th Street. Burial will be in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston.
Costo died Friday (May 21, 1993) in North Gate Manor, Wheatfield, after a short illness.
Born in Rome, Italy, he also lived for several years in Brooklyn.
Costo was a 26-year Army veteran and was a mess sergeant, retiring in 1946 as a master sergeant.
He was based in the Panama Canal Zone, South Carolina and Fort Niagara. He also was a chef for the Youngstown Yacht Club and worked for Youngstown Cold Storage Co. Costo retired in 1965 from the Traffic Department of the former Hooker Chemicals & Plastics Corp. after 17 years of service. He was an avid fisherman.
Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Butera; two sons, John J. of Youngstown and Richard E.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.[ulrch]
