A construction worker was injured at 11:39 a.m. Friday when a 2,160-pound pallet of glass fell on his leg at the 12.5-acre greenhouse project on Shawnee Road, Niagara County Sheriff's deputies said.

Raymond Hirsch, 49, of Clearfield, Pa., was listed in satisfactory condition late Friday in DeGraff Memorial Hospital, North Tonawanda, after he underwent surgery for a compound fracture to his right leg, a hospital official said.

Hirsch, who was working for V and V Noordland Company of Medford on the $6.5 million project, was injured when the pallet containing 67 glass sheets shifted and teetered off a forklift truck, deputies said.
