The Town Refuse Committee will sell backyard composters to town residents for $35 cash from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in the rear parking lot of the Summit Park Mall, 6929 Williams Road.

The large-capacity composters come with an instruction book and information about how to get started composting.

The Refuse Committee decided to arrange this special price and opportunity to purchase composters since committee members and councilmen have been receiving increasing inquiries over when the town would begin composting following its successful recycling program.

Committee Chairman Matt Forcucci said the committee views backyard composting as a cost-effective method of reducing the amount of waste set out for collection, while also providing an end product for use on yards or gardens.
