Services for Walter A. Hansen, a retired auto-mechanics teacher and a former Williamsville trustee, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Eagle and North Ellicott streets, Williamsville. Burial will be in Williamsville Cemetery.
Hansen, 65, died unexpectedly Saturday (Dec. 29, 1990) in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst.
Hansen served as a part-time village trustee in Williamsville from 1975 to 1977.
He retired in 1987 after 17 years as a mechanics instructor at the Erie County Board of Cooperative Educational Services Harkness Center in Cheektowaga.
He also worked for 24 years as shop foreman for Glen Campbell Chevrolet in Amherst. Hansen was a former member of the Teacher Retirement Board for Erie County District 1 BOCES.
A native of Hackensack, N.J., he graduated from Buffalo State College.
He served with the Army Engineers in the Philippines from 1943 to 1946.
Survivors include his wife, the former Ruth Kaeppel; four daughters, Mary Beth Lee of Liberty Hill, Texas, Barbara Hansen-Vanderwyst of Ashland, Ore., Virginia Aguirre of Sacramento, Calif., and Laura Mosher of Clarence Center; two brothers, Theodore of Williamsville and Arthur of Canisteo; a sister, Helen Many of Cohocton, and five grandchildren.
