RUSTLING SUSPECT HELD, BROTHER SOUGHT

State police were attempting Sunday to round up seven missing heifers and lasso the rustlers responsible for their Christmas Day disappearance from upstate Washington County farms.

Six missing horses were recovered Friday when police arrested Steven Landfair, 43, of Scherve, Ohio, on possession of stolen property charges. A warrant charging his brother, Sandy Landfair, 40, of Hudson Falls with grand larceny was issued, and Sandy was being sought Sunday, state Trooper John Sharp said.

"There might be more people involved judging by the number of animals taken, but right now there's one warrant," he said.

Police traced the horses to an auction barn in Sugar Creek, Ohio, after receiving tips from residents about pickup trucks and livestock trailers seen near the three farms from which animals were taken.
