Some months ago the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce launched a campaign to hold a "Buffalo Night" in certain cities that have a major league baseball franchise.
After speaking with a young lady at the Chamber and after a visit to San Francisco, I submitted the names of 12 ex-Buffalonians who were delighted at the prospect of attending such an event. The names were given after a request by the Chamber in the media.
Now I am told the project, after one event was staged in Pittsburgh, has been put on "hold." It is obvious now, after reading the many articles about the cost of bringing major league ball to Buffalo, why the campaign was halted, although I was given a different explanation.
One must ask:
Didn't anyone involved do the necessary research to determine the exact cost involved in bringing major league ball to Buffalo?
Are we to forever be known as a bush league town?
