MAGIC TOPS FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS WEEKEND PROGRAM HOURS ARE ALTERED FOR NEW YEAR'S EVE, DAY

This weekend's events at the Festival of Lights in downtown Niagara Falls will begin with Rob and Carol Allen's free Holiday Magic Show at 6 p.m. today in the Carborundum Center, and will continue with full schedules on Saturday and Sunday.

Performers and exhibitors at the festival will take a break on Monday and Tuesday to observe New Year's Eve and Day. More events are scheduled throughout the rest of the 44-day festival. Closing ceremonies are planned for Jan. 6.

The displays and thousands of holiday lights that are major parts of the 10th annual Festival of Lights normally can be viewed from 5 to 11 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and from 1 to 11 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Viewing hours will be shortened, however, to 5 to 9 p.m. on New Year's Eve and 5 to 10 p.m. on New Year's Day.

The local festival is complemented by similar displays and programs in Niagara Falls, Ont., just across the Niagara River.
