COUNTY WORKER CHARGED IN DOWNTOWN OFFICE FIRE

An Erie County employee was charged with arson Thursday after more than 500 county employees and visitors had to be temporarily evacuated from the county Department of Social Services offices because of a fire.

Joseph J. Milosich, 42, of the Town of Tonawanda was charged with second-degree arson.

Sheriff's Department investigators said he was taken into custody in the Rath County Office Building and was taken to the Erie County Holding Center to await arraignment today.

Investigators said the fire was set at 11:30 a.m. in the Social Services offices at 478 Main St. Damage was minor and there were no reports of injuries.
