FLAMES PUT OUT QUICKLY IN POWER AUTHORITY BUILDING

Volunteers from seven companies quickly extinguished a blaze about 10 p.m. Wednesday in the one-story steel maintenance building of the State Power Authority at Routes 31 and 265, authorities said.

A police spokesman said they were concerned about the flames spreading to an area containing diesel fuel and fertilizer as the fire was controlled in 45 minutes.

The facility is located across from the State Police barracks there. No injures were reported and an inventory will be made today to establish the loss.
