Social activities appropriate for seventh and eighth graders at John F. Kennedy High School will be arranged since they have been barred from school dances.
Students in those two grades have been barred from attending the dances since September, with the exception of the homecoming dance held annually in the fall as part of school spirit week.
The Cheektowaga-Sloan School Board has approved plans to name an adviser for those grades and the position will be filled by a faculty member in early 1991, according to School Superintendent James P. Mazgajewski.
"We weren't really keen on the mixing of the age groups," Mazgajewski said. There had been some problems reflecting different levels of maturity at dances attended by students ranging from seventh to 12th grade, he added.
The adviser will work to arrange social activities "appropriate to their age level," he said.
