DEPEW TEEN, CRITICALLY HURT, FACES CHARGES IN CRASH

A Depew teen-ager in critical condition in Erie County Medical Center faces charges in connection with an early Sunday one-car accident, police said.

Lt. David Gorski of the Depew Village Police said Bruce Petz, 19, of 48 Lee St. suffered head injuries when he lost control of the car he was driving on Cornell Drive about 1 a.m. and glanced off one tree before slamming into another.

Petz has been charged with driving at an imprudent speed and failing to keep right, police said. James Tischendorf, 20, who was a passenger in the car, was treated for head lacerations at ECMC and released, Gorski said. Petz is in the intensive care unit.
