Sabres General Manager Gerry Meehan would be doing a big favor to the team, Rick Dudley and the fans by hiring Gilbert Perreault as an assistant coach.

Considering all of the offensive talent on the team, it would seem fitting for them to be coached by Gilbert! Mogilny, Turgeon and Hogue as well as the more experienced veterans could learn a lot from him. Perreault knows offense. Perreault knows hockey. He always has had the ability to motivate those around him to lift up their games a notch or two.

Coach Dudley could use some help. His strategy of molding players to fit "his style," is not working. Most of the present players will never be the type of player that he was. Whoever said that a team of Rick Dudley-types can win a Stanley Cup in this era of the game anyway?
