A State Supreme Court jury Friday ordered New York City and former Yankees shortstop Andre Robertson to pay $14.3 million to Shemkwa Nolin, 31, a ballerina paralyzed from the waist down as a passenger in an auto accident.

The woman, now a Dallas prosecutor, alleged Robertson was speeding when his car struck an embankment at 72nd street and the West Side Highway Aug. 18, 1983.

The jury also found the city responsible for 67 percent of the award for not warning motorists of a sharp turn at that location, but since Robertson's insurance only covered $25,000, lawyers said the city would be responsible for the rest of his share.
