As has been his custom while wracking up consecutive handicap pacing victories since the start of the season, Youknowwhatimean made his patented three-wide backstretch move from last place in Saturday's $5,000 renewal at Buffalo Raceway.
This time, however, it didn't work. Driver Joseph Nassimos urged his 5-year-old into second place at the three-quarter pole, a length back of Toey's Fritz, the leader from the start. But that's as close as Youknowwhatimean could come to winning his third straight.
Appearing to tire around the final turn, Youknowwhatimean finished as he started -- trailing the entire field.
Aniram, driven by Rodney Laframboise, won a stretch battle with The Cardinal by 1 1/2 lengths to pick up the winner's share. Toey's Fritz saved third. It was the seventh win of the year for Aniram, who toured the mile in 2:02 2/5 .
Closed over the Christmas holiday, Buffalo Raceway reopens Wednesday with an 11-race card.
