4 SEIZED IN AMHERST GAS STATION HOLDUP

An off-duty Amherst police officer spotted four robbery suspects fleeing a gas station holdup and alerted on-duty officers, who stopped the getaway car on the Youngmann Highway Saturday morning.

An undisclosed amount of cash, the cashier's purse and a BB pistol were recovered when the car was stopped shortly after 2 a.m., police said.

Police arrested Herman F. Johnson, 20, of 115 Wakefield Ave., Buffalo; Donny Kirkland, 25, of 442 William St., Buffalo; Gregory Price, 20, of 144 Mulberry St., Buffalo, and Randy Applewhite, 18, of 32 Marne Road, Cheektowaga.

Off-duty officer Michael Worczak spotted the suspects' vehicle shortly after the holdup at Zinni's Mobil, 1490 Dodge Road. A marked police car stopped the suspects' car.
