CHEEKTOWAGA POLICE CHIEF PUTS 2 OFFICERS ON LEAVE

Police Chief Bruce D. Chamberlin of Cheektowaga has suspended a lieutenant and a patrol officer, pending an investigation into allegations of violations of department rules involving supervisory
procedures.

Technically the two were placed on administrative leave, Chamberlin said Thursday.

He declined to identify the two officers or to describe the allegations more precisely. Assistant Chief John F. Schaller, who is conducting the investigation, was scheduled to meet with both officers and their lawyers today. Both officers are still being paid,
Chamberlin said.

Chamberlin said the allegations were made by other members of the department, and so far only one side had been heard. He said he did not expect a conclusion of the investigation before late next week at the earliest.
