The state Thruway Authority has no plans to cut back on snow plowing and ice removal along the 559-mile stretch of the highway, officials said.

The Department of Transportation has announced that because of the state's budget deficit it will cut back on nighttime plowing and salting of state roads it maintains.

But the authority, which budgets $6 million for winter maintenance, receives no state funding and is not directly affected by the state's budget problems, said Arthur D'Isabel, Thruway Authority spokesman.
