A former Buffalo insurance and investment salesman under indictment in connection with $170,000 in bank fraud has been indicted on additional charges of defrauding an Akron company of $196,500.
Michael J. Hogan, 44, now of Oldsmar, Fla., ran Associates Benefit Planning Services Inc. until its bankruptcy in 1986. He was indicted Nov. 27 on charges of using false information to obtain loans from Key, M&T, Norstar and Chase Lincoln First banks.
A new indictment returned by a federal grand jury charges him with six counts of mail fraud in his dealings with Cold Spring Construction Co. The firm bought $450,000 in insurance coverage but allegedly received only $253,500 worth of coverage.
Hogan was released on a $20,000 appearance bond.
