Lawless Container Corp. of North Tonawanda has promoted Wesley N. Herman to corporate vice president. He will coordinate all activities between the company's Main Corrugated Plant and the Process Print/Display Division. Herman joined Lawless in 1962 and most recently served as general manager of the Process Print/Display Division. He also serves on the company's board of directors.

George W. Pish will assume Herman's former position as general manager of the division and Richard S. Russell will take over Pish's position as division sales manager.

The Western New York Defense Trial Lawyers Association has named James M. Kieffer president-elect. He is a partner in the local law firm of Damon & Morey. He will serve as the association's vice president until November 1991, at which time he will assume the position of president.

Lynn D. Gates was elected treasurer of the association and Maurice L. Sykes was named secretary. Newly-appointed directors were: Erin M. Peradotto and Joseph V. McCarthy. Robert M. Kiebala currently serves as association president.

Alden State Bank has appointed Christian G. Koelbl chairman of the board. He joined the bank in 1953 and most recently served as its president. Beginning Jan. 1, Koelbl's sons, Richard D. and John S. Koelbl, will assume the positions of president/chief executive officer and vice president/cashier, respectively.

The Visiting Nursing Association of Western New York Inc., 4230 Ridge Lea Road, Amherst, has named James J. Kelleher assistant director of services for branch operations and clinical disciplines. He previously was nurse administrator for the Gowanda Psychiatric Center and community nurse program coordinator and program director for Transition House. He holds a bachelor's degree in nursing science from D'Youville College and currently is enrolled in the school's community health nursing master's degree program.

In addition, VNA promoted Nora Wheeler Ramirez to quality assurance supervisor. She joined the association as a community health nurse two years ago. Like Kelleher, Ms. Ramirez is a graduate of D'Youville College and now is working toward her master's degree in community health nursing.

Landesman & Associates, 570 Delaware Ave., general insurance agency for The New England, has appointed Thomas A. Corless sales manager. His main responsibility will be new agent development and training. He is a graduate of Canisius College and is a resident of West Seneca.

Sibley Real Estate Services, 9880 Transit Road, East Amherst, has promoted Paul Grucza to senior property manager in its Community Association Management Division. Other promotions in the division include: Mary Fillinger and Dianne Ruppel, who were named property managers, and Sue Kolb, who was appointed office manager.
